Enterprise AI Provenance Enters Deployment, but Watermarks Remain Evidence Signals

On 5 October, OpenAI began offering optional text watermarking to API customers and disclosed textGrain detection results and limitations; Anthropic has published the marking coverage across supported models, products and cloud platforms; and EU Article 50 separates providers' machine-readable marking duty from deployers' public-disclosure duty. Together, the three sets of material show content provenance moving into product configuration and compliance processes, but a watermark alone cannot answer questions of authorship, accuracy or responsibility.
